washsnus.jpg (5606 bytes)
The tree on the right is a fully grown Washingtonia robusta approximately one hundred feet tall.

(Photo taken at the Leaning Pine Arboretum, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo)

The tree on the left is an unskinned specimen--the old leaf bases remain on the trunk, giving it a textured look.

The tree on the right is a skinned Washingtonia--the old leaf bases have been removed, leaving a smooth trunk.
